主讲人简介：

Austin Nevin, chemist and conservator, is a Researcher at the Institute if photonics and nanotechnologies (IFN), part if the Italian National Research Council (CNR) where he has worked since 2011. His research focuses on the analysis of paintings and painting materials, and the study of ancient and modern cultural heritage using optical and spectroscopic techniques. He is currently working on joint project between the CNR and the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage (CACH.) 

He is the co-author of over 60 publications, an editor of Studies in Conservation and of the Springer series  Cultural Heritage  Science. He has been the chair of the Technical Committee for three IIC Congresses(2014, 2016, 2018). 

He has served as the coordinator of the Scientific Research Working Group of ICOM-CC  (from 2011-2014) and is a Council Member and Fellow of the IIC  (since 2013). Following a degree in Chemistry (Mchem) from the University of Oxford (2001) and a 3-year MA in the Conservation of Paintings (Wall Paintings) from the Courtauld Institute of Art  (2004), Nevin went on to obtain a PhD from the University of London in 2008.

讲座提要：

Thanks to the combination of high spatial resolution and the capacity for molecular analysis. Raman spectroscopy is one of the most versatile techniques for studying our cultural heritage. Following the presentation of theoretical and practical aspects of the application of Raman spectroscopy on the micro and macro scale, case studies of applications will be shown. Insights into the degradation of binding media andpigments as well as the challenges of the analysis of cross sections and microsamples will be presented.
